County residents are working together to create
furniture-quality cabinetry for custom
home building, production homes, and
remodeling projects in Sacramento and especially
in the greater Bay Area. We do custom
homes, hi-end production homes, and provide
remodeling services. Our high end products
and good value give us a great boost in those
three markets even during economic downturns
such as the one we’re going through at
the present time.
From our earliest years my four brothers and
I were always building stuff in our garage.
During my senior year in high school Dad quit
his job and the six of us built a home in
Discovery Bay from the ground up. I began
learning in a hands-on fashion the requirements
of construction. I was attracted both by
the business and by the labor itself.
We were building custom homes while I was
in high school — as many as ten homes a year.
I was mostly responsible for foundations and
framing. We also built custom cabinets for the
homes we were creating.
When the market for new homes slowed
during the recession of the 90s we began
building cabinets for other contractors. As
time went on my brothers started going
their separate ways and in 1996 I started
Precision Cabinets. We began with a half

dozen employees and over the subsequent
decade averaged 50-percent growth per year.
I have always enjoyed building things. I formerly
created physical objects with my hands,
and now have built a business that is
Brentwood’s largest private employer.
Our goal has always been to reproduce ourselves
in other markets, and we’re prepared to
do so when the time is right.
We’re giving our customers true value; we
know what the market wants and are able to
provide products and services for them at a
competitive price.
Because I grew up in the trades as carpenter,
electrician, etcetera, I know the construction
industry well. Customers don’t have to try to
interpret their desires when they talk with us.
We know what they are asking for. In some
cases, we actually are able to interpret what
they would be asking for if they knew the
industry as we do. We guide prospective customers
through the design process ensuring
that what they finally order is what they actually
want and need.
I work long days and am actually working in
my head 24 x 7 because I live and breathe
Precision Cabinets.
I’m usually having fun! Every aspect of the
business is satisfying! I like the pace of the
work and the product we are creating! I’m
working directly with customers because I can
relate to them and enjoy making them successful;
their payoff is my payoff.
Identifying with the needs of customers is
key to being successful in this business.
People can be counted on to act in their own
best interest. If we provide a good service
then people will continue to use our company.
We maintain both quality and service to
sufficiently high levels so that our customers
will naturally continue to return to
us. Why wouldn’t they? Who better than us
could meet their needs?
We believe in this customer first principle as
a means of achieving and maintaining success,
but that sounds a little too calculating.
I’m actually passionate about this! We “meet
and exceed customer expectations” in part as
a means of my personal fulfillment and not as
a mere business principle.
Along with every other business in the area,
we’re experiencing a slowdown in the current
economic downturn. But we’re doing fine.
We’ve established a presence in our markets
together with a track record that is the envy of
our competitors.
We’re still profitable. The slump in tracthome
housing starts is being offset by the
continuing strength of the custom home and
remodel markets.
We’re looking forward to the future. We’re
geared up for growth.
