Michele realized that they were going to have to
get a lift for the van. The problem was a lack of
funding for the project.
Regional Center is a state program that has
provided some good things for Cam, and is willing
to cover the expense of the lift itself, but won’t
pay for the modification to the vehicle, which
turns out to be an extreme expense since the floor
of the van would have to be lowered, on one hand,
and the roof raised, on the other.
She realized that she needed to find a source
of income so on one memorable day she sat in
front of the computer, praying, “What am I
going to do?”
A voice seemed to tell her, “Type in HOME BUSI-
NESSES.” She did so and a link popped up to
“Home and Garden Party.”
Michele checked their products, which all seemed
to be high quality and reasonably priced. She also
saw that Home and Garden Party was faith-based
and a feeling swept over her that her destiny was to
begin her own home-based business and use Home
and Garden Party as a means of raising funds for
Cameron. She discovered later that the company’s
initials also stand for How God Provides.
So since August Michele has been running her business.
The women belonging to the local Girlfriends
Unlimited organization have been taking turns in
sponsoring parties for her at which she can display,
demonstrate, and sell her products.
Michele doesn’t want charity. But she would
like people to take advantage of H&GP’s great
products and customer service.

Or they can host an H & GP party of their own.
Michele’s customers can do something good
for themselves while giving Cameron a lift.
Michele sums up her relationship with her son
by saying,
“Before he was born I thought I would have to
teach my son about the world. It turns out I have
to teach the world about my son. They see a boy
who doesn’t speak; I see a miracle who doesn’t
need words.”
